Être & avoir (4K) (EN subs)
This film is being screened tonight thanks to a special contribution to last year’s seat-reservation campaign.
As a token of our gratitude for this generous contribution, the donor was invited to choose a film for our programme. Donor Maria van Veen chose *Être & avoir*, a wonderful documentary by director Nicolas Philibert.
In France, so-called single-class schools still exist almost everywhere. In these classes, all the children from the same village, from nursery school right through to secondary school, come together under one teacher. Between seclusion and openness to the world, this small, colourful group of people share their daily lives, for better or for worse. In his award-winning documentary, Nicolas Philibert follows the daily life of a small rural school in the Auvergne for a year.
