Lucila's Film Club x De Uitkijk: Morvern Callar (2002)

When young Morvern finds her boyfriend dead after his suicide, she decides to turn her back not only on his body but also on the life they shared. As she detaches herself from her old life, she embarks on a path of choices that are difficult for the viewer to follow. She decides to silently ignore her boyfriend's legacy and strike out on her own by publishing his manuscript under her own name. 

Lynne Ramsay's Morvern Callar is a hypnotic exploration of grief, decay and reinvention. The film shows how Morvern tries to escape the rot of her past by reinventing herself.
