This film is part of the program The Gaze of Varda. The film includes English subtitles.
Sans Toit Ni Loi (Vagabond) is a docufiction by Agnès Varda; she made the feature film as if it were a documentary.
Sans Toit Ni Loi explores the events leading up to the death of a young woman (Sandrine Bonnaire), whose body is found in a ditch. Through interviews and moments from her wandering life, we see a headstrong and fiercely independent rebel who chose her own path. With no roof over her head, she was free from the constraints of bourgeois convention.
Sans Toit Ni Loi won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1985, and Sandrine Bonnaire received the César Award for Best Actress. The film is one of four titles returning to cinemas as part of The Gaze of Varda program.
