Code Unknown (2000) (EN subs)
These days, every front door in Paris has an access code, according to Michael Haneke. In *CODE UNKNOWN* (2000), the French capital becomes a metaphor for inaccessibility, our inability to communicate with one another.
A young Parisian man contemptuously drops a piece of paper into the lap of a Romanian beggar woman. This is the starting point for a series of brilliantly filmed vignettes. Each character turns out to be connected in their own way to this insignificant incident. What emerges is a revealing analysis of racial inequality and the failure of communication between individuals, cultures and social classes.
