Memories of Murder (2003)
9 to 59 TO 5, the ‘Uitkijk’ series for May and June, is all about rolling up your sleeves: work, whether fair or not, whether clean or not…
South Korea, late 1980s. As the country undergoes a difficult transition from dictatorship to democracy, several young women are murdered in a small province. Two detectives are assigned to the case, but their clashing personalities make the investigation considerably more difficult.
Director Bong Joon-Ho later gained worldwide fame with Parasite, the first non-English-language film to win the Oscar for Best Picture. MEMORIES OF MURDER is proof that he was already making fantastic films fifteen years earlier. A gripping thriller with absurdist undertones.
