SINCE JOHN CAGE SAID LISTEN TO SILENCE, WE WILL ALSO TRY TO LISTEN TO DARKNESS
The night is scary, so it disappeared with street lamps. And with it, the dangers but also the fairies and the ghosts. In dark cities of the past lay Infinities that we can still activate today.
By turning everything-but-the-sound off at the Uitkijk, we will remove parasites. Away with visions of attitudes, faces and status. In total darkness, it is just our ears and the warmth of the others’ presence that will guide us on the 27th of March.
Come and listen to Sara PlusPlus and K Cidder for the first Fly-By-Night, The new concert series in the dark, powered by Plor at De Uitkijk.
Sara PlusPlus plays with guitars, eerie synths and voice. Grit, words and whistling. Her music is raw. It is full of hypnagogic sounds and disintegrating references of nostalgic beats. It is assertive yet disobedient to its own boundaries, mean yet whispered to your ears.
K Cidder is a voice made for the microphone, made for telling you a story. He leans into the lengths of precious sounds - field recordings and dear tracks made by others - to navigate a type of writing that never falls out of place. Lines that maintain an exigence to novelty and depth, texts with a rare capacity of intimacy and proximity. Transparent and mysterious, corners of love and nocturnal walks will be heard that night.
