The Departed (20th Anniversary)

Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Jack Nicholson star in Martin Scorsese’s crime thriller The Departed. The Departed is set in South Boston, where the police are fighting organized crime. Young undercover agent Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) infiltrates the syndicate run by mob boss Costello (Jack Nicholson). While Billy quickly gains Costello’s trust, hardened criminal Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) is working for the police as Costello’s informant. Colin rises to a position of power within the Special Investigations Unit. Both Billy and Colin become entangled in their double lives, constantly gathering information about the plans and countermeasures of the organizations they have infiltrated. When it becomes clear to both the criminals and the police that there is a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin find themselves in mortal danger. Both must uncover the other’s identity to save themselves in time.
