Black Narcissus (1947)
Loaded LandscapesEscape the sweltering heat, step into our cinema and embark on a journey through LOADED LANDSCAPES.
In the British drama film BLACK NARCISSUS, a congregation of Anglican nuns is tasked with building a new convent from scratch in the Himalayas. Unfortunately, this quest proves more difficult than hoped, and the sisters are plagued by temptation: sensuality in the form of stunning landscapes and a British agent cause the nuns, each in their own way, to experience spiritual crises.
The dizzying heights of the landscape in BLACK NARCISSUS were all meticulously recreated using miniatures and paintings, immediately immersing the viewer in a picturesque setting. No wonder, then, that the film won two Oscars for Best Cinematography and Best Production Design.
